According to a Vanguard report, ASUU President Professor Biodun Ogunyemi said he was not aware of an agreement to cancel the strike. He noted, however, that it had been agreed at the meeting that the union would send the government`s message to its various bodies and then report back to the government. The minister also indicated that the transition period for the payment of salary and other allowances had not been resolved due to discrepancies on the payment platform. Part of the deal focuses on funding universities that agree that each federal university will receive at least $1.5 trillion between 2009 and 2011, while public universities will receive N3.6 million over the same period. Please, our great government is coming together and dealing with this matter, let`s take our burden to school, please help your youth remind you that your children are out of the country, why those who are in Nigeria cannot go back to school as they help us. It was also reported that the ASUU reached an agreement with the federal government after the latter increased its offer of earned allowances and funding for the revitalization of public universities from N65 billion to N70 billion.
